Definition:
Natural internal water drainage class of the soil profile.
Description:
The natural water drainage class refers to the frequency and duration of wet periods under conditions similar to those under which the soil developed. Alteration of the water regime by man, either through drainage or irrigation, is not a consideration unless the alterations have significantly changed the morphology of the soil. NOTE The water drainage is a parameter to be taken into account for meeting the (i) Council Directive 91/676/EEC of 12 December 1991 concerning the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates form agricultural sources, (ii) Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (energy from renewable resources)
