Since its development in 1970, EU Member States have used NACE or national classifications derived from NACE: it is an integral part of the statistical infrastructure used within the European statistical system for producing comparable statistics. Because of its relation to the International Standard Industrial Classification of all Economic Activities (ISIC), NACE is an important tool for comparing statistical data on economic activities at world level.
