INSPIRE Extensions: Guidance for building data models on the Data Specifications

Thorsten Reitz and Jandirk Bulens

(Submission #167)

Abstract

The INSPIRE data specifications are the result of a community of experts working to define common data models. The specifications are rich and cover many use cases. However, national or regional use cases often have additional requirements that are not covered. For this reason, at least 50 data models have been developed that build on the base of the data specifications.

In this workshop, we present results of our survey on data modelling and an inventory of existing extensions. We then present a common baseline methodology and a pattern catalogue for relating new data models with INSPIRE.

In addition, we invited participants in the survey to submit a presentation to the INSPIRE conference. We provide slots or two of these presentations in the workshop, to complement what participants learned with real-world experiences from their peers.
