EcoAqua Institute of University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is an important producer of the scientific marine/maritime data in the Macaronesia region. The institute applies sharing data policy and in 2016 the goal is to apply INSPIRE data management. The main motivation to be a part of distributed European SDI is to increase visibility of EcoAqua work and shared information, but moreover, to properly understand INSPIRE data management methods, that can be shared with our project partners and applied in future international developments. The goal was to understand and properly adopt the whole process from metadata development, data harmonization and finally providing the services for discovery, view and download, using exclusively open source/free of charge software. For the use case, citizen science database developed by the project Poseidon was selected, in which users are entitled to report the sighting of marine species, providing a photo, location and specie common name. Database is harmonized with Species Distribution INSPIRE data model and common specie names were mapped using the standard EU-Nomen code list provided by Pan European Species Directories Infrastructure. For data harmonization process we used Humboldt Alignment Editor and metadata on data&services were catalogue with GeoNetwork. To provide INSPIRE network services on view and download it was necessary to establish additional PostGIS database and data were served through GeoServer application. During the process we identified number of issues, that we want to report as solutions that we applied. Following, we classify level of the complexity and level of expertise required for resolving identified issues and development of the each applied INSPIRE data management component.
