    <p>AGID (previously CNIPA and DigitPA) is a legally mandated organization under the supervision of the President of the<br /> Council of Ministers. Is responsible for implementing the Italian Digital Agenda and has the mandate to perform the<br /> following tasks within Italian Government to:</p> <p> foster a wide usage of ICT technologies in Italy;<br /> develop technical requirements and guidelines;<br /> enable cooperation among information systems of governmental bodies and between these systems and the European<br /> Union;<br /> support and promotes initiatives and processes of digitizing;<br /> promote and disseminate information initiatives as well as training for citizens and civil servants;<br /> monitor the implementation of ICT plans in public administrations in terms of effectiveness and efficiency;<br /> constitute a national reference in the context of the European Union and international;<br /> promote institutional arrangements for application cooperation between the public information systems;<br /> coordinate initiatives for efficacy provision of network services for citizens and enterprise;<br /> design the national framework for interoperability of services for the technical and semantic interoperability.</p>
    Main Activities: 
    In the actual regulatory context (in particular the national law "Digital Administration Code” D.Lgs. n.83/2005) and in relation to the tasks specifically assigned, Agency for Digital Italy: is manager of Repertorio Nazionale dei Dati Territoriali (RNDT) the Italian Catalogue of metadata for Spatial Data and provide the related discovery service; is national point of reference for the metadata related to the spatial data and services, one of the components of national SDI, expected with the INSPIRE directive; is member and supports the activities of National Committee for technical rules concerning spatial information (Comitato per le regole tecniche sui dati territoriali delle pubbliche amministrazioni). It is a joint Committee with national, regional and local public authorities, for define technical rules aimed at collecting, organizing, using and exchanging spatial data in the public sector; coordinate and support projects related to the southern Regions of Italy (Abruzzo, Campania, Molise, Sardegna, Puglia, Calabria Sicilia EU Ob.1 Area), aimed at implementing geographic data base and developing geospatial services.

    Previous Experience relevant for INSPIRE development: 
    In the contest of National Committee for technical rules, AGID has contributed to define the following technical rules, approved with decree november 10, 2011 of Minister of Public Administration and Minister of Environment: - technical rules for definition of content of the national catalogue of spatial data (Repertorio nazionale dei dati territoriali - RNDT); - technical rules for definition of specific content of the geographic information database; - technical rules for the implementation, documentation and exchange of digital orthophotos at a nominal scale 1:10,000; - adoption of the italian geodetic reference system, in the EUREF contest. Also, has contributed to define the technical and economic rules for the use of cadastral data by telematic by other administrations, approved with decree november 13, 2007 of Director of Cadastral Agency. In the past AGID has collaborated with experts in the INSPIRE DTs, for reviews and comments about IRs (for example CNIPA contributed to the Italy Feasibility Test of DT INSPIRE M&R and sent comments about Metadata IR).
