    <p>Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the UK Ministry of Defence Organisation responsible for the management of the defence estate – some 240,000 hectares of land in the UK (plus overseas). The estate supports the operational, training and accommodation needs of the Armed Services. DE is responsible for developing policy and providing guidance on environmental issues and sustainable development for the built and rural estate. This covers areas such as conservation, transport, waste,<br /> archaeology, the marine environment, public access and biodiversity.</p>
    Main Activities: 
    Main activities are: 1. Assesing the impact of Article 19 on the release of Defence information in support of INSPIRE. 2. Understanding and implementing the standards and spatial data themes developed for INSPIRE. 3. Implementing policy on the provision of Defence information and metadata.
