    <p>The Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) is the National Meteorological Service of the Federal Republic of Germany. It constitutes a public institution with partial legal capacity under the department of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing. Its duties are defined by the Law on the Deutscher Wetterdienst and include formal responsibilities with respect to meteorological and climatological information, e. g. the operation of observing systems and networks, international exchange, archiving, forecasting and service provision. </p>
