    <p>The Finnish Geodetic Institute (FGI), founded in 1918, is a research<br /> institute for the mapping sciences residing under the Ministry of<br /> Agriculture and Forestry. </p>
    Main Activities: 
    The Finnish Geodetic Institute shall deal with the basic scientific measurements for Finnish mapping and with metrology of geospatial information and engage in research work in the fields of geodesy, geoinformatics and remote sensing and related sciences. The task of the institute shall also be to foster the introduction of geodetic, geoinformatics and remote sensing methods and equipment in the acquisition and processing of geospatial information in particular.
