It produces maps and statistical data about forests and moor. Its main topics are the measurement of forested area, wood production and availability, the description of biodiversity and soils, the evaluation of indicators for the sustainable management of French forests and carbon sinks.</p>
    Main Activities:
NFI produces forest maps based on aerial photographs containing information about ownership, forest regions (ecological division) and types of forests or moor. It also produces statistical data about wood resources and ecology. These data are geo-referenced and can be presented on GIS or used to enhance forest maps.
