    <p>Resolution of the Chief Executive Officers<br /> of the Federation and the States from 27th<br /> November 2003: Order to establish a 3<br /> level structure to coordinate the<br /> establishment of the SDI in Germany<br /> including Federation, States,<br /> Municipalities. The 3 level structure<br /> gives overall leadership and<br /> responsibility to State Secretaries for<br /> eGovernment. The Steering Committee GDI DE<br /> is responsible for concept and<br /> implementation. The coordinating office is<br /> the executive unit for the GDI DE<br /> (Coordinating function).</p>
    Main Activities: 
    1) Development of decentralized technical and organizational architecture for the NSDI in Germany and coordination for implementation 2) Identification of the necessary geo data sets of the NSDI in Germany 3) Identifying, harmonizing and implementing SDI standards and rules used by the SDI initiatives in Germany 4) Creating and running a network of spatial data and services 5) Administrating the technical entry to the NSDI in Germany (Geoportal.de)

    Lenkungsgremium GDI DE (explanation:Lenkungsgremium GDI DE = Steering Committee Spatial Data Infrastructure Germany) The 3 level structure of GDI DE was set up because of the federal state system of Germany. The GDI DE will connect the partly isolated SDI strategies of States and Federation. Members of the LG GDI DE are representatives from the Federation, the States and the German Alliances of Local Authorities.
