    <p>Governmental body being a division of the 'Administration des Ponts et Chaussées' (Roads and Bridges Administration), Ministry of Public Works, mandated for geological surveying and cartography and geological, hydrogeological and geotechnical studies by national law (Loi du 15 mai 1974 portant réorganisation de l'Administration des ponts et chaussées.)<br /> National geological survey, member of Eurogeosurveys.</p>
    Main Activities: 
    Founded in 1936, the main tasks of the SGL today are divided between geotechnical aspects, mainly geotechnical studies for public works projects and geological hazards management and a more scientific aspects, which encompass geological and other geoscientific mapping and data distribution, public information related to earth sciences. The SGL acts as a public service for various governmental bodies and local communities.
