AEA Group Air Quality Modelling & Emission Inventory Team
Mission and Objectives: 
To be the number one provider of high quality spatially disaggregated environmetal information to the public and private sectors in the UK. We aim to deliver products conforming to the latest state-of-the-art technical understanding and spatial referencing standards to promote understanding, accuracy and compatibility.
Formal Mandate: 
National Government
AEA Group is mandated by the UK Government to compile UK submissions relating to the National Emissions Ceilings Directive, European Monitoring Mechanism and the UNFCCC relating to Air Quality and Greenhouse Gas emissions, reporting under the EIONET agreement, reporting of exceedences under the Air Quality Daughter Directive.NETCEN also compile the UK National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory (NAEI) for UK policy development and atmospheric concentration modelling and have the responsibility for compiling UK constituent country (regional) emissions inventories for greenhouse gases and air quality pollutants in support of regional policies and public awareness.

    Previous Experience relevant for INSPIRE development
    Development of techniques & approaches to pan-European air pollution emission maps under the EU Apmosphere consortium using reported data from Member States and European spatial data. Partcipation in the European SBSTA working group on emission inventories and reporting. Task leaders for the European Topic Centre on Air & Climate Change reviewing techniques and data availibility for spatial emissions inventory development. Participation in numerous EU/CEN working groups on standardisation of air pollution/emissions sampling & measurement techniques.
