Mission and Objectives: 
AMFM_ITALIA SDIC mission and objectives are as follows: (1) Awareness creation and maintenance; (2) Dissemination of INSPIRE related information, handling of multilingual aspects; (3) Discuss aspects of data exchange from local to national level; (4) Discuss aspects of harmonisation at local and national level; (5) Collaborate and support drafting teams; (6) Possibly, incubator of pilot projects.

Mandate: 
AMFM_ITALIA SDIC originates from AMFM GIS Italia, a not for profit association established in 1990, which has the mission to foster the development in Italy of GI and GI related technologies and applications. The SDIC will give specific efforts to developing models of collaboration and GI projects coordinated with different levels of the Public Administration (central, regional, local) and with the private sector (hardware/software and services providers). Since AMFM GIS Italia members are public administrations at different levels (e.g. Cadastre Agency, regions, provinces, municipalities), universities, public utilities companies, vendors, professionals, AMFM.it SDIC in naturally a multi-level, multi-sector, public-private community.
Activities: 
The AMFM_ITALIA SDIC will organize: - workshops to bring together stakeholders in GI field and to discuss the way common practices and methodologies - could be applied, - thematic working groups with the members of the SDIC and, in case, with experts of the drafting teams on specific - subjects (i.e. utilities and facilities GI ), - collection of reference material, and - training initiatives.
Membership: 
Status 2005-04-18 Founding members: AMFM GIS Italia Members, which are public administrations at different levels (e.g. Cadastre Agency, regions, provinces, municipalities), universities, public utilities companies, vendors, professionals. Showed interest: all the members of the Association. Potential other partners: to be updated, the process is in progress. The SDIC is open to any partner that wants to contribute to the mission and objectives.
Comments: 
AMFM GIS Italia is founder member of EUROGI and is part of the ASITA (Geographical and Environmental Scientific Associations) Federation, which annually organizes the largest Italian conference on GI related issues, involving about 1000 people per year. The SDIC is based as well on the mandate, recently given to AMFM GIS Italia by the National Committee for GI of the Italian Minister of Innovation and Technologies, to represent one of the main stakeholders within the development process of the NSDI.
