Description
Organisation:
Avalanche Spatial Data
Acronym:
ASD
Details
Mission and Objectives:
This project aims to promote how avalanche-related information such as bulletins, incidents, snow-profile, weather observations could be shared with a common standard to build an avalanche Spatial Data Infrastructure for national/international interoperability and early warning toward a safely mitigation risk of mountain activities across the Alps.
Formal Mandate:
None
Mandate:
not for profit
Activities:
Purpose of idea itself is to connect avalanche stakeholders across regions and countries in terms of data observation and collection centers with the implementation of a Spatial Data Infrastructure based on a server, which has the Web Feature Server capabilities and using the Geoserver’s application schema feature. This might enable common warning services for avalanche information exchanges in compliance with CAAML specification data (adopted by avalanche community as an international standard) and map visualizations for incident report and bulletin alert.
