BIOFRAG
Description
Organisation:
Biodiversity and carbon sequestration monitoring in fragmented landscapes using advanced remote sensing techniques and GIS modelling

BIOFRAG
Details
Mission and Objectives:
Development of advanced geo-spatial models in the area of biodiversity assessment, vegetation structure and biomass, monitoring change. In particular: - Biodiversity assessment through investigating the spatial distribution pattern of plant and animal species - Geovisualization methodology and tools to extract knowledge from large temporal geospatial data sets on biodiversity and carbon flux - Develop artificial intelligence methods and algorithms to extract knowledge from temporal geospatial data sets for biodiversity and carbon flux assessment - Inventory of carbon stores and modelling of carbon sequestration in the interspersing forest/grassland ecosystems with hyperspectral remote sensing and ancillary spatial data.
