Mission and Objectives: 
CEA is the European insurance and reinsurance federation. It unites 31 national member associations and represents over 5000 European insurance companies with a total domestic premium income of 855 bn Euros (2003 figures). CEA represents the industry's views to European and international regulators to ensure an appropriate regulatory framework and provides its members with a number of services.

Mandate: 
CEA expresses a general interest in the development of INSPIRE without having evaluated, so far, all potential implications for insurance business. Therefore CEA's Property Committee, and within this Committee, the Natural Hazards Working Group are mandated to follow the development of this EU initiative, as well as all other related initiatives (e-society, regional and environmental policy principally).
Activities: 
EU-policies related Committees and working groups, issuing reports or position taking, experience sharing eg.. Report about Flood risk mapping and zoning within European property insurance national markets.
Membership: 
CEA Property Committee / Natural Hazards Working Group (13 market delegations) with technical support of Mission Risques Naturels (MRN) and ARMINES/Ecole des Mines de Paris.
