Mission and Objectives: 
Supporting EU South neighbourhood countries in developing shared national data management system for Integrated Water Resources Management to ensure comparability with EU member states, including data models, metadata, reference systems and quality check.

Mandate: 
EMWIS has been set up based on the decision of the Euromed Ministerial conference on water in December 1996 (Marseille) to provide tools for cooperation in the water sector in the Mediterranean. Activities on data harmonisation and support for National Water information System is based on the Ministerial conference on water of the Union for the Mediterranean, held in Jordan in 2008.
Activities: 
* projects for development of National water information systems * technical specifications and guide lines * workshops * thematic working groups
Membership: 
All Water Authorities of the Union for the Mediterranean countries (EU + South and East Med countries)
