EPRO
Description
Organisation:
Environment Platform for Regional Offices in Brussles
Acronym:
EPRO
Details
Mission and Objectives:
The objective of collaboration is providing the regions with early information about new legislation, subsequently enabling them to make individual contributions to the debate. This should lead to the development of better balanced, higher quality proposals and a faster decision making process. This should in turn lead to better implementation of legislation.
Formal Mandate:
None
Mandate:
Agreement. Informal organisation for the regional offices in Brussles
Activities:
Meetings, mail contacts
Membership:
EPRO was set up following an informal hearing organized by DG Environment's Directorate B on October 26, 2001. The group's function is to discuss and investigate options for developing an improved relationship between Brussels regional offices and DG Environment. The group involves one regional representative and one alternate representative from each EU member state, though each member does not have any formal mandate. Participants liase with colleagues from their respective Member States using - in most cases - already existing networks, disseminating information and seeking views on the issues raised. EPRO has also been given a place for experts on newly established Commission working groups and Advisory Forums. These experts have also their shadow working groups.
Typology:
