Mission and Objectives:
to maximise the availability and effective use of GI in Europe for good governance, economic and social development, and informed public participation; it stimulates, encourages and supports the development and use of geographic information and technology and acts as the voice for the European GI community.

Datasets and services: to promote the compatibility, sharing and re-use of geo-spatial data; User access: to promote easy access to datasets by users from a technical, legal, financial view point; Applications: to promote the development of innovative services enabling the effective use of geo-spatial data for day to day uses (general public, government, industry, and research) To build the necessary technological, political, and human capacity at all levels Communicate about the objectives, high level and network lobbying to achieve the objectives.
Activities:
EUROGI has two Working & Advsiory Groups: 1. Datasets (INSPIRE), 2. Applications. A 3rd group is being established on User Access. EUROGI hosts Members Days, workshops with GI industry during main events, participates in EC funded projects (o.a. GINIE, ETeMII, Panel-GI, etc). The EUROGI INSPIRE WAG is to support in the INSPIRE process on behalf of the members in such a way that it is ensured that the broad representation of in the first place the users, including private sectors, academia, voluntary sector communities is exploited within the process of specifying what are the shared geo-spatial data in Europe in relation to INSPIRE and to serve as a go-between for the user community between the producers and the potential fund providers of shared geo-spatial data in Europe.
Membership:
EUROGI has a unique membership structure and offers a network of thousands from the European GI community. EUROGI represents also the GI-user community. It has 21 national geographic-information associations as members as well as 2 pan European GI-related associations.
