Activities: 
FOSSGIS e.V. is the organiser of the yearly FOSSGIS conference focusing on Open Source and Open Data in the field of GIS. It acts as supporter for Open Source Software on the field of public relation by presentations on various confernces and fairs.
Membership: 
in forst order FOSSGIS e.V. provides a club membership accorindg to german law of association. Anyway, the FOSSGIS e.V. is abig supporter of most major Open Source and Open Data projects in the field of GIS and therefore interacts a lot with these communites.

    Previous Experience relevant for INSPIRE development
    FOSSGIS e.V. has more than 140 private and more tha 20 business members. Due to its alliance with Open Source projects it adressess main contributors of almost all Spatial Open Source Software projects and a few 1000 end users in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Many software projects implement INSPIRE view, download, metadata services and have to deal with INSPIRE data specifications. Its functioan as local chapter of OSGeo links to tha fact that OSGeo software is used by a wide range or Europen Member states to implement spatial data infrastructures to satisfy the requirement of the INSPIRE directive.
