Mission and Objectives:
The importance of the geo-DBMS is increasing at the transition to the GII, because not just one organisation depends on it, but the (geo-)information community as a whole. Therefore a consistent research programme has been formulated concentrating on the central theme of geo-DBMS.

Mandate:
The GDMC is a research and development center for all activities related to the modelling, storage, retrieval, analysis, presentation and distribution of geo-information. The GDMC started in 2000 at the TU Delft with four participants: Sun, Oracle, CA and PGS. Later on, more participants joined the GDMC, in 2001 ESRI and Bentley and in 2003 Intergraph.

Joint research of Geo-ICT academia and industry
Membership:
The GDMC is an OGC member. The following organizations are participating within the GDMC: TU Delft, Sun, Oracle, CA, PGS, ESRI, Bentley and Intergraph.
Comments:
Partners within the GDMC are already participating in the INSPIRE process (e.g. wia OGC-Europe). However, it is more efficient to become an SDIC itself.
