Mission and Objectives: 
Geoforum Danmark aims at promoting the use of geographical information in the Danish society. We serve as an interest organisation for the Danish private and public GI society. Also, a large number of individuals from the GI society find Geoforum to be their association. In Geoforum issues of harmonisation of national datasets will be discussed on a neutral ground. We do in general concern all aspects of GI as including data modeling, reference systems, metadata and data validation.

Mandate: 
Our mandate is given from our stakeholders as an agreement. We do serve as the Danish umbrella organization for GI, i.e. The Danish GI Association. The organisation provides services not for profit on the long run.
Activities: 
Among our main activities we do make an annual conference on GI, post education in GI subjects, bimonthly short meetings on GI subjects, standardisation activities on various areas, dissemination of latest landmarks within the GI area through our various dissemination channels, i.e. a monthly magasin for the Geoforum members, a biannual publication of thematic papers, and our homepage, www.geoforum.dk. Also, a great coordination work takes place between the various part of the GI society in Denmark.
Membership: 
In total almost 400 individuals and 200 companies or organisations are Geoforum members. Mostly, Geoforum members reside in Denmark. Many of the governmental organisations in Denmark are members and that covers the Danish National Mapping Agency, the Traffic Authorities, the Ministry of Environment, the Environment Protection Agency, A number of Research Institutes, the Geological Survey, The Universities of Denmark, some of the Water Authorities, most municipalities, and most counties. Also, the private GI society is widely represented by a lot of consultancy companies, software development houses, software distributers, geodata distributers or producers, infrastructure owners, and chartered surveyers.
