Mission and Objectives: 
To create a CEN technical standard for the XML exchange of Public Transport data based on CEN Transmodel standard for Public Transport Information.

Mandate: 
CEN Technical Committee 278 is a CEN European standars committee responsible for public transport information standards. Working Group 3 (WG3) manages a number of Public Transport Standards through its sub commitees. Standards especially related to the geospatial context of INSPIRE include: - SG4 Transmodel - Reference data model. (COnceptual model). - SG7 SIRI - Standard Interface for Real-Time Information. (XML interface) - SG8 IFOPT Identification of fixed objects in public transport (Stops & Transport Interchanges: Model & XML) - SG9 NeTEx Network Exchange (XML interface)
Activities: 
NeTEX is divided into three parts: Part 1 - Transport Network and Part 2 - Schedules Part 3 - Fares and data for AVL
Membership: 
Technical experts from CEN member countries: Germany, France, Hungary, Netehrlandsm Switzetralnd, Sweden, United Kingdom
Comments: 
Specific interests in the projection of transport infromation models withion a GIS context. For example, to location stops and routes, to manage real time vehcile movements, and to relate joruney planning within a Geospatial context.
