Mission and Objectives:
OSP is the central policy unit responsible for facilitating and coordinating spatial data management across Australian Government agencies.

Mandate:
OSP was created in 2011 as a Cabinet Decision to strengthen whole-of-government spatial data policy leadership in Australia. This includes the important role of building mature and enduring partnerships and coordinating collaboration across all sectors.
Activities:
The office is currently: -developing an Australian Spatial Information Infrastructure -working in collaboration with ANZLIC - the Spatial Information Council to determine the requirements for a National Foundation Spatial Data Framework -coordinating Australia's contribution to international spatial standards development -facilitating collaboration within and between government including access to location data and services
