Mission and Objectives:
The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and the Federation of Swedish County Councils represent the governmental, professional and employerrelated interests of Sweden´s 290 local authorities, 18 county councils and two regions. The Association and Federation strive to promote and strengthen local selfgovernment and to create the best possible conditions for the work of their members. Their activities are largely financed by membership fees.

Looking after the members interests and providing services by opinions on government bills and papers for circulation, inquires and expert groups, debating, publications, projects, workshops, conferences, seminars etc.
Membership:
The members of SALAR are all the local authorities, county councils and regions in Sweden. SALAR is also a member of CEMR.
