Spatial Data Infrastructure for Strategic Environmental Assessment
Mission and Objectives:
Developing a Spatial Data Framework and Software able to support urban and environmental planners to carry out the procedure of Strategic Environmental Assessment(SEA). Sharing Environmental and Territorial Data Developing Decision Support Tool working in a Web-Server for providing web-GIS services to multiple users.
Formal Mandate:
Public + private consortium association
Defining data of Interest for SEA Developing SDSS for Web-GIS application Developing Image Processing software in a Web-GIS-Server Environment
Local and regional authorities in charge of SEA procedures Independent experts and Consultants Universities and research centres
The idea of this SDIC originated within a working group appointed to build a Spatial Decision Support System to help local authorities in carrying out the Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Master Plan of the Province of Naples (Italy). The working group includes technical officers of the administration, as well as external consultants and researchers. The SDIC aims at taking the best out of this experience to propose a spatial data framework and software tailored to the SEA procedure, which is extremely topical within the EU, being mandatory as of July 2004
