Mission and Objectives: 
IGN Spain (EIONET´s National Reference Center for Soil) is coordinating SIOSE Project (Spanish Land Use and Land Cover Information System), at 1:25.000 nominal scale. This project is ending the definition phase. This project is being developed and designed in collaboration with more than 25 institutions interested in lu/lc, organized in Thematic Working Groups. Decisions and agreements about technical, economic and organization aspect are taken in this National Assembly, formed by representatives of these national and regional institutions. This community of producers/users of lu/lc information is going to apply its membership as a “Spatial Data Interest Community” for INSPIRE initiative.

Mandate: 
Discuss issues to design the National Land Cover and Use Information System of Spain -including harmonisation of nomeneclatures,data modeling, reference systems, metadata and data production methodology.
Activities: 
Stablish working groups for harmonisation of nomenclatures and Data Model Design (using Object Oriented Methodology and INSPIRE recommendations) Approval of technical specifications development. Approval of SIOSE Budget. Approval of SIOSE timetable.
Membership: 
National Coordinators of the following spanish Ministries: Public Works, Defense, Enviromment, Treasury, Education and Science, Agriculture, Housing (one representative for each Ministry) Regional coordinator (19, one representative for each Regional Administration or Autonomous Community)
