Mission and Objectives: 
The aim of SITR-IDT is to create and manage the regional official spatial database and the related technologic infrastructure, services and application necessary for data access. This is according to the principles of geographic data sharing and accessibility, expressed by the INSPIRE Directive For this purpose, metadata play a fundamental role; rules and technical guidelines for the creation and management of geographic data by regional public admnistrations will be delivered. Within the development of regional SDI, started in April 2005, and in the framework of the MOU signed with the JRC/EC, Sardinia region intends to pursue all methodological, technical and administrative objectives to achieve the realization’ principles and test the specifications of INSPIRE.

Mandate: 
Sardinia Region is a regional public administration in charge of developing his own SDI, and provides services to public administrations and to citizens for geographic data access and consultation.
Activities: 
Development of Regional Geographic Information System and its related SDI (SITR-IDT). Creation and maintenance of the geographic database and all the services for its access.
Membership: 
Public Administration Region of Sardinia (Italy), Local Authority for Municipalities, Finance and City Planning Department for the regionel spatial data infrastructure
Comments: 
SITR_IDT will act as a helpful support for planning decisions and for designing actions on the territory both at regional and Eurpean Community level.
