Mission and Objectives: 
The mission of the Technical Chamber of Greece is to advance technology and scientific knowledge in all areas of engineering, in order to best utilize it for the Nation’s economical, societal and cultural development.

Mandate: 
The Technical Chamber of Greece is an umbrella organization, which represents all qualified engineers in Greece and acts as the Consultant of the State on all Technical Issues.
Activities: 
As the technical consultant of the Greek government, the Technical Chamber of Greece studies every technological issue, consults on any relative technical matter, partakes in technical International and E.U. Committees and groups, resolves issues of harmonisation among technical organisations (incl. the development of specifications) and plays instrumental role in advancing and spreading technical knowledge by organizing scientific workgroups and workshops.
Membership: 
All qualified engineers living and working in Greece (counting almost 87400) are members of the Technical Chamber of Greece. In reference to INSPIRE, the Technical Chamber of Greece has organised an INSPIRE & GIS Scientific Committee, constituting of 20 members, all GIS experts. Each member represents a different spatial information organisation or agency, including representatives both from the Private and Public Sector (especially corresponding agencies of the Hellenic Ministry for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works), as well as Research Institutes and Universities from all over Greece.
Comments: 
As the technical consultant of the Greek State, the Technical Chamber of Greece is keenly interested in an effort to produce an spatial data infrastructure accessible at a European, National, local and public level. Therefore, the Technical Chamber of Greece is willing to participate and share the experience and expertise of its members for the INSPIRE implementation.

    The Technical Chamber of Greece was the first Greek Agency involved in standardization and technical data availability-policies development. Acting as an umbrella encompassing national agencies, private companies and the public, the Technical Chamber of Greece has participated in the development and diffusion of numerous national technical specifications. It has standing scientific committees attending the work of CEN and ISO technical groups.
