Mission and Objectives: 
The local government community is represented by the Local Government Association (LGA) and the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA). The LGA promotes better local government and works with and for member authorities to realise a shared vision of local government that enables local people to shape a distinctive and better future for their locality and its communities. They aim to put local councils at the heart of the drive to improve public services and to work with government to ensure that the policy, legislative and financial context in which they operate, supports that objective. The IDeA was created by local government, for local government and to lead local government improvement by sharing good practice through self-challenge and innovation.

To represent and consult with the UK local government community the impact of INSPIRE.
Activities: 
To provide advice, analysis, research and intelligence to local government to promote better local government. To coordinate the Mapping Services Agreement (MSA) for local government in the UK. To be the stakeholder for the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) and National Street Gazetteer (NSG).
