Mission and Objectives: 
The local government community is represented by the Local Government Group. The LGA promotes better local government and works with and for member authorities to realise a shared vision of local government that enables local people to shape a distinctive and better future for their locality and its communities. They aim to put local councils at the heart of the drive to improve public services and to work with government to ensure that the policy, legislative and financial context in which they operate, supports that objective. The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) was created by local government, for local government, to lead local government improvement by sharing good practice and through self-challenge and innovation.

To represent and consult with the UK local government community the impact of INSPIRE
Activities: 
To provide advice, analysis, research and intelligence to local government to promote better local government. To coordinate the mapping service agreeement (MSA) for local government in the UK To be the stakeholder for the national land and property and street gazetteer.
