Label:
magnetic elecromagnetic separation
Definition:
Separation process based on the difference in magnetic susceptibility between minerals. The intensity may be low, medium or high. Sometimes a high-gradient magnetic field is used. The magnetic field may be produced either by a series of permanent magnets or by electromagnets. The magnetic field is used either to deviate the magnetic particles from their course, or to lift the magnetic particles.
