First, we would like to thank your participation at the INSPIRE Conference 2016.

Please find below some information regarding the poster session at the INSPIRE Conference 2016 (September 26th- 30th, Barcelona):

  • General information

To ensure the success of the forthcoming INSPIRE conference, and to satisfy the high expectations of the attendees, it is important that presenters adhere to certain standards and guidelines. These are explained in the current document and you are requested to read it carefully.

As presenter you are going to communicate the result of your work. In doing so, you have to consider carefully who your target audience is and what is of interest to them. It should be kept in mind that the majority of delegates are professionals who like to leave the conference with new ideas and developments that are applicable in their respective business activities. Targeting your presentation to a narrow audience of specialists is justified only for very specialised sessions.

Additionally, the amount and detail of information that can be communicated in a presentation is very limited. This means that complexities, detailed derivations and involved arguments will fail to reach your audience. Simple statements and illustrations are easier to understand and these must convey the essence of your presentation.

All presentations must be in English.

  • Recommendations for the preparation
  • In order to obtain a design for your poster which aims to generate active discussion it is recommended to:
    • Place the highlights at eye level (i.e. the upper half of the wall element).
    • Divide each poster into at least three equal columns for readability of text.
  • Illustrations may extend over 2 or 3 columns.
  • Text and character size:
    • Word-process all text (including captions) and print on a plain light coloured background.
    • Use a minimum font size of 18 points (text should be readable from 2 meter away).
  • Illustrations:
    • Should have a resolution of 300 dpi to be suitable.
    • Should be placed large enough on the poster so it is readable from 1,5 meters away.
  • Poster Format:
    • Maximum posters size is 900 mm width and 2300 mm high. Bigger posters will not be allowed. Recommended posters size is A0 (i.e. 841 mm * 1189 mm).
    • As there is one (1) poster panel available per presentation, please use Portrait layout for your poster.

  • Time and location:

Posters will be available from September 27th to 30th during the Conference period. All posters will be on display up to the Conference closing.

Poster area location will be at level -1, Hall A, in the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya (Avinguda Diagonal, 661-671, Barcelona).

Timetable of the poster sessions will be as per the program of the conference, i.e. September 28th and 29th, 2016 at from 16:00 to 17:30.

  • Days and hours of sticking posters:

At any time, during the time of the conference, starting on Monday September 26th at 14:00.

At the venue…

  • Bring your poster with you. Please do not send it ahead.
  • Every single poster will be assigned to a panel, which will include the number of the poster, the title and the main author. Find your number on the program (web or paper).
  • Stick the poster to the assigned panel at your earliest convenience. Please, use only the material supplied by the organisation. No tacks, nails, pins or staples are allowed.
  • The poster presentation should be given during the above mentioned poster sessions. Please note that the presenter must be on site to present the poster. Simply hanging up the poster does not suffice as a presentation. Should you encounter difficulties presenting the poster, please contact the organisation team.
  • Besides the poster sessions schedule and as it is normally done at the congresses, we recommend being in front your poster during coffee breaks and lunches. In addition, labels will be provided to ease all those wanting to meet the authors or announcing authors’ availability.
  • Mr. Salvador Canas will be the Organisation’s contact point for the Poster Sessions. If you need to contact him, kindly go to the Speakers’ Corner (Business Centre 1) at -1 level.
  • You may bring copies of any poster handouts you wish to distribute.
  • Posters not removed at the end of the conference will be thrown away by the organisation.
