The INSPIRE directive gives a great opportunity for the private sector to get easy access to spatial data owned by governments. As a commercial map maker HERE is monitoring this process very close to see if there are any possible benefits for their offerings. Especially digital maps for navigation systems are extremely dependent on actual and precise information to meet customer needs on different levels (from Pedestrian Navigation to Autonomous Driving).
In this conjunction spatial data from the government can be one important source to maintain and build business models around spatial information.
In the presentation following topics will be addressed: • The importance of INSPIRE for the private sector • Experiences made with INSPIRE portals across Europe • Usage of INSPIRE Data in commercial maps • Expectations of the spatial industry • Benefits for the industry (especially new business models)
These questions are important and relevant as the success of INSPIRE is closely related with the accessibility and usage of public spatial data by companies.
Topic Area: [2.3] Cost / Benefits of implementing INSPIRE Abstract Type: Oral Presentation
Comments: The presenter is working at HERE as Sr. Content Acquisiton Lead and is closely working with different governmental organizations in the field of INSPIRE and Open Data.
