DOV, soil and subsoil in Flanders - State of play - Technologies and new tools in place to deliver INSPIRE

Marleen Van Damme

(Submission #186)

Abstract

Databank Ondergrond Vlaanderen (DOV) is a very performant information system in Belgium (Flanders) that freely offers data covering the themes soil, geology, geotechnics, groundwater, mineral resources and geothermics for the Flemish region. The data that is offered consists of INSPIRE-compliant Open Data, available for re-use. An overview of infrastructure and applications in place for DOV will be given following the flow from generating the data to its publication. The tools in place for advanced search will be demonstrated (DOV-verkenner, accessible via https://www.dov.vlaanderen.be/portaal). The application called "Mercurius" (an ETLP-tool) that has been built to fully support the publication process towards INSPIRE compliant metadata (including object catalog) and network services will be presented in detail. Since performance of network services is the key to success, the presentation will also show how accurate and timely information on service quality and usage can be used to continuously improve the quality of our services efficiently.
