What’s new in GeoNetwork for INSPIRE

Maria Arias de Reyna, Francois Prunayre and Jeroen Ticheler

(Submission #313)

Abstract

GeoNetwork is an opensource software project maintaining a catalogue product to facilitate discovery of spatial datasets and services used at various governmental levels. Municipalities, civil services, research groups and SME’s use geonetwork to register their spatial resources in a catalogue. Regional, national, european and global organisations use Geonetwork to register, but also ‘harvest’ metadata from local catalogues, services and file shares to provide a central discovery of datasets and services.

Last year we’ve seen a large group of users upgrading their version from 2.x to the 3.0 version, which is currently stable and as full featured as the 2.x version. In the presentation we’ll give you an introduction of the new features in 3.0, with a focus on INSPIRE functionality, such as:

- ease of customisation of the website branding

- Openlayers 3 (i.a. 3D view)

- Improved display on mobile devices

- Support for SDS metadata

- INSPIRE OpenSearch/ATOM

- Improved metadata API

- Improved administration workflow

- Improved support for search engines (schema.org)

- Improved open data support (support for GeoDCAT-ap)

- Searching in and visualisation of linked WFS content
