(Submission #354)
The presentation would focus on the following. • The draft core data types being identified by the UN Global Geospatial Information Management (GGIM) initiative, one type is most likely to be addresses. As part of this section of the presentation the situation regarding addresses in the Mapping Africa for Africa and the ANZLIC reports on fundamental geospatial datasets would be noted. • Review one or more addressing systems from at least four of the six UN global regions and relate them to the addressing approach undertaken in INSPIRE. The review of the various systems would be based on a standardized template which would be informed by the approach to addressing adopted in INSPIRE. In the case of Europe one of the systems reviewed would be GeoDirectory and its incorporation into the Irish INSPIRE system. • Discuss the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDGs) highlighting Goals, Targets and Indicators which in principle could benefit from a structured approach to addressing taking account of the review of systems from the UN regions mentioned above. • Taking the various investigations outlined above identify how the INSPIRE approach could possibly be beneficial to advancing the SDGs.
