If the question of INSPIRE is if the digital economy is an important driver of innovation, competitiveness and growth with a huge potential for both the private and public sector, more important is like the digital economy can support the sustainable development of the rural areas, supporting the developing of the unspoken potentiality of these territories. In fact if for the towns the sustainable development is smart, pass through the encounter potentiality, relationship development, potentiality of the economy and of the sources of the contents production and of consumer goods, for the rural areas , the cause joined to the connectivity and to the possibility to be connected with the world, was one of the limit factors. To use the potentialities’ and the quality life value, inside the rural areas, defining, in term of smart development where development should or should not go, can help a rural community encourage growth in town, where businesses can thrive on a walkable main street and families can live close to their daily destinations. Policies that protect the rural landscape help preserve open space, protect air and water quality, provide places for recreation, and create tourist attractions that bring investments into the local economy. How inspire directive could support the smart rural sustainability?
