The Geological Map of Germany 1:1,000,000 (GK1000) is the first fully INSPIRE-compliant geodata product provided by the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR). The GK1000 represents the surface geology of Germany and adjacent areas. It comprises information on the lithology, stratigraphy, genesis, faults and the marginal position of the ice shield. The presentation will describe the main steps of the INSPIRE implementation process: • Semantic mapping on class, attribute, and codelist level according to the Data Specification on Geology (D2.8.II.4_v3.0) • Technical transformation by using Safe Software/con terra FME and the extension INSPIRE Solution Pack 2.0 for FME • Provision of INSPIRE-compliant GML files via Atom feed technology • Provision of the GK1000 via INSPIRE View Service (WMS) and the BGR Geoviewer • Visualisation according to the portrayal rules (e.g. lithology and stratigraphy) given by INSPIRE.
