Implementing INSPIRE Download Services at BKG

Dirk Thalheim

(Submission #126)

Abstract

The Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) provides geodetic and geo-topographic reference data of the federal states of Germany centrally to federal institutions, public administrations, economy, science and citizens. Datasets, which are produced and maintained at the BKG, are offered as open data and reported to INSPIRE. The next step in fulfilling INSPIRE requirements is to provide INSPIRE compliant download services and data models until 23 November 2017 for data matching Annex I Themes. In this year we started to implement Direct Access Download Services for our datasets matching INSPIRE Annex I themes. We used our experience from the E.L.F. project for transformation of data models and setting up services based on open source software. In this presentation, we will show our approach, our gained experience as well as the challenges we faced implementing these services.
