Mobility of the Future – INSPIRE and ITS Applications

Christian Kleine

(Submission #2)

Mobility of the Future – INSPIRE and ITS Applications The INSPIRE directive and cooperation with road authorities gives a great opportunity for the private sector to get easy access to fresh public owned road data. Especially digital maps for navigation systems are extremely dependent on actual and precise information to meet customer needs on different levels (from Pedestrian Navigation to Autonomous Driving). As a provider of location cloud services HERE is using open data to enhance their services and solutions In this conjunction road data from the road authorities can be one important source to maintain and build business models around Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS). ITS applications are contributing to a more efficient, safer and ecofriendly Transport in Europe. In the presentation following topics will be addressed: • The importance of the EU Legislation (INSPIRE, ITS Directive) for the private sector • Use cases of business processes using INSPIRE Data (TN-ITS, ELF) • Benefits for ITS Applications • Outlook: what can be improved? Needs of the private sector These questions are important and relevant as the success of the digital society is closely related with the accessibility and usage of public spatial data by companies.
