Based on the outcome of the mid-term review and the REFIT evaluation of the INSPIRE Directive in the period 2014 -2016, a new multi-annual maintenance and implementation work programme (MIWP 2017-2020) has been established that takes the implementation of the INSPIRE Directive into the home stretch and aims at bridging the last mile between the European spatial data infrastructure and the end-users of this infrastructure. This ambition is reflected in the long-term objectives of the work programme (close implementation gaps, address implementation challenges, strengthen the end-user perspective, further improve access to information …) and several actions have already been initiated and executed i.e. to make the current infrastructure more user-centric and deliver short terms results (and benefits). Time to present the state of play of these actions, their intermediate results and the roadmap towards 2020.
