Abstract

Spatial Data Infrastructure of the Valencian Community plays a fundamental role in the economic, social and cultural development of our community due to the continuous generation and distribution of interoperable, open and standardized data. Numerous public and private sector projects are based on INSPIRE data and services, not only because of certain legal prescriptions that establish it, but also because of the leadership obtained due to its unprecedented potential.

The standardization of the use of INSPIRE data and services has numerous examples that we would like the opportunity to share with the INSPIRE community. In the public sector, INSPIRE services and dataset are used as the base for reports, evaluations, environmental inspections, territory planning and management projects, heritage, equipment, resources and waste management among others. Some of the remarkable public projects based on INSPIRE data and services in the Comunitat Valenciana are:

The private sector enjoys the huge technical and economical advantages of INSPIRE. Currently, professionals of different disciplines use INSPIRE data and services as a base for projects. An example to highlight in the agrarian sector is the irrigation project of the Real Acequia de Escalona.

The Valencian regional node produces and publishes dataset and services, but also generates products derived from other European initiatives. We are generating a repository of images derived from Sentinel in RGBI with a 5-day frequency of the entire Valencian region, which is fundamental in fire detection and burned areas. Following Copernicus, two lines of research have been generated from Sentinel images. One to detect changes in the territory and another to generate applications for more sustainable crop irrigation. In addition, GALILEO is integrated into the GNSS network of the Comunitat Valenciana.

We hope that the Comunitat Valenciana experience contributes to multiply the spectrum of possibilities of the INSPIRE users community.
