Abstract

The « Geoinformation for the sea and the coast » working-group (GIMeL) reports to the French national council for geoinformation (CNIG), coordinating structure for INSPIRE in France. The GIMeL aims, on one hand, to determine reference geodata sets for the sea and the coast, meeting the users’ needs, and on the other hand ease national administrations and public bodies to build up agreements which state for each geodata sets ; production terms, up dating and access. The GIMeL gathers prominent geodata sets providers and « sea and coast » stake-holders : French Navy's Hydrographic and Oceanographic body (SHOM), biodiversity French agency (AFB), French research institute for exploitation of the sea (Ifremer), Expertise centre for energy and supportive transition (Cerema), National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), French mapping agency (IGN), State, and local authorities. The GIMeL worked in 2018 on a specific geodata set dubbed “high scale reference land-sea boundary on French shores”. This presentation will focus on the tests implemented by the SHOM and the French mapping agency (IGN) since a few years concerning a “high scale reference land-sea boundary on French shores”, a national users survey led by the SHOM in 2018, and the exchanges within the working group.
