The INSPIRE Technical Guidelines contain valuable information to ensure the structure and interoperability of data, metadata, data series and services is following the directive. This information consists in the definition of a set of rules to be applied to the XML files. The presentation will show how to understand the methodology and the set of activities needed to carry out a quality control of INSPIRE data and services, using the set of rules specified in the Technical Guidelines. The XML formats referenced in the technical guidelines are based in ISO rules. However, INSPIRE goes further, it defines extra rules to ensure the interoperability between metadata, data and services. These extra rules are structured in specific requirements, within the documents of the technical guidelines. Some of these requirements are grouped by conformance classes. To perform a quality control based on the requirements, it is necessary to follow 3 steps:
Define an Abstract Test Suite (ATS), where the test is described in a high-level description. What it does, how, and what are the expected results.
Develop the correspondent Executable Test Suite (ETS). Coding the test in a way that it is understandable by computers, and
Implement the ETS in an interface or application, to perform the tests A practical example will be shown, to help INSPIRE implementers to publish high compatible metadata, data and services.
