Using the Thematic Cluster tools to support Marine Policy

(Submission #322)

This paper presents highlights of work undertaken in 2018 in the context of using Inspire to support data exchange in the context of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. This evaluated using different Inspire data themes for the different reporting g criterion specified by MSFD. Part of this evaluation included end to end transformation of data from existing source data repositories to Inspire download web services.

The above work is also undertaken at the same time as practical issues related to implementation of Inspire data services are being raised and discussed on the Thematic Cluster platform. These topics are related in the large part of observations and measurements of the marine environment and as a result there has been increased cross-over in discussion between the Marine and Atmosphere and Observations and Measurements clusters.

Going forward the Marine and Atmosphere cluster has been looking to evolve to ensure it best support both these practical implementation issues alongside wider policy support.
