INSPIRE at PostgreSQL/PostGIS

Hi,

Is there is an implementation for whole INSPIRE themes & schemas at PostgreSQL/PostGIS database?

What is the fastest way to do this and to migrate my data from old schema to INSPIRE Schema?

Regards,

Maha

    Hi Maha,

Good news and bad news ;) Yes, it is quite possible to provide INSPIRE data from a PostGIS DB, and yes, there are various tools available,  but no, to my knowledge there is no complete suite preconfigured for easy data provision.

I know that many data providers are utilizing either GeoServer or Deegree for this purpose, at least with GeoServer I've had quite good experiences but it does take some time until you understand the details of the configuration. There are also tools available to support this configuration process, for example HALE, but as an old geek I admit I prefer just going straight for the config file as this gives me full control.

I've had good experiences by first creating views off of my DB that mimic the INSPIRE data structure; as this approach packs the transformation logic into the SQL view definition, the GeoServer configuration becomes quite straight-forward (I keep planning on putting a few of these configs online, but have yet to be that bored ;) )

Further information on tools is also available from the following page:

    Hope this helps!

    :)

    Hi Kathi,

Could you please, share your work at PostGIS, configs and views.

    Hi Maha,

counter question - what INSPIRE themes are you currently working on?

Packaging the GeoServer and DB Configuration does take time, and nobody pays for it. I will soon be putting up the configuration for Hydrographic Networks and Environmental Monitoring Facilities via the API4INSPIRE project (link below). There you'll also find information on SensorThings API, an interesting alternative to WFS for provision of Environmental Monitoring Facilities as well as our work on OGC API - Features.

    Hi Maha,

some things go faster than one things, I've done a first configuration page for Hydrographic Networks and Transport Water. Contains the DB SQL, App Schema Configuration, and a bit of support for understanding the data model (not easy!)

    https://datacoveeu.github.io/API4INSPIRE/ogc-api/GS-Config-HY.html

If this page is confusing, please don't despair, as this is one of the more complex models. However, if you can provide feedback on how to make the page better, please get back to me on this!

    :)
