Population disribution : Geometry or no geometry?

  • General

The INSPIRE Community Forum is now part of the INSPIRE helpdesk system, based on GitHub (, so please start there any new discussions.

The current platform will remain available in read only mode in its current form and URL address until 31/01/2021, then its content will be archived and then published in a different URL which will be announced when it becomes available.

On page 2 of the DS version v3.0, it is stated "No spatial feature" but in the UML model page19 as well as in the feature catalogue, a GM_surface is expected under attribute "areaofdissemination". Is that not a contradiction? Or would it only be the external boundary of the area of dissemination?

Thank you

    Dear Pierre,

This is exactly as you pointed out only an external boundary of the area of dissemination. So if a GML file covers population data for the whole country, this attribute's value would be the external boundary of the country.
