The Digital Economy Unit of the JRC has a position open for a Scientific Project Officer on the topic Technological enablers for public sector geospatial data sharing.
The overall context of this position is the “Europe fit for the digital age” priority of the European Commission and the multiple data-driven initiatives emerging from the related political agenda, mainly the European strategy for data, aiming at the establishment of EU-wide data spaces, and the Open Data Directive aiming at the provision and sharing of public sector high-value datasets, many of which will be geospatial.
The selected candidate will join the team working on the technical coordination of the INSPIRE Directive, which will play a key role in this new political context. The foreseen tasks include:
contributing to the conceptualisation of a modernised INSPIRE reference architecture, leveraging on new standards and technologies;
investigating the technical provisions and concrete approaches for the establishment and sharing of geospatial high-value datasets through the combination of different sources of information from public, private and citizens;
acting as bridge between science and policy, linking research findings to the political priorities on data-related matters.
